Finding aids, guides and publications
A Guide To Archival Holdings describes the corporate records of York University faculties, departments and organizations and the archives of individuals and private organizations deposited in the Archives up until 31 December 1993. The general descriptions in the Guide to Archival Holdings are supplemented with more detailed box and file lists to facilitate research and retrieval. Access conditions and requirements
With some exceptions, most ASC holdings are available for research. Access to some materials may be restricted for a period of time in order to protect the privacy rights of individuals or because donors have imposed access restrictions on their own material. Any restrictions will be noted in the finding aid to the collection.

The Archives welcomes a wide variety of users including university administrators seeking information from records deposited in the University Archives; faculty and students pursuing specific research projects; alumni and the general public.
Through the provision of services to these constituencies Archives and Special Collections (ASC) attempts to support the teaching, research, and outreach functions of York University.
