Fonds consists of records pertaining to Deborah Barndt’s work as a researcher, photographer, writer, activist and York University professor. These records document the research and writing of Women Working the NAFTA Food Chain (1999), Tangled Routes: Women, Work and Globalization on the Tomato Trail (2002), and VIVA! Community Arts and Popular Education in the Americas (2011), her research focus on popular education, globalization, community arts, and her involvement with equity and diversity initiatives at York University. Records in this fonds include research materials such as journal articles, papers, reports, newsletters, government documents, pamphlets, brochures, as well as audio recordings of interviews and interview transcripts, correspondence, manuscripts, video cassettes, notes, e-mail, proposals, workshop materials, and photographs.

Fonds consists of administrative and organizational files pertaining to the activities of the International Commission for the Coordination of Solidarity Among Sugar Workers (ICCSASW), particularly with regard to national and regional seminars, international sugar workers conferences and solidarity campaigns. It also contains committee meeting minutes, financial records, fundraising files, correspondence with unions and other organizations, newsletters, photographs, videos, taped interviews and publications related to ICCSASW activities. The fonds also includes some items from the Sugar Workers and Industry Education Resource Library (SWIERL).

Fonds consists of records created and accumulated by John D. Harbron, his wife Sheila E. Harbron, and some other members of their extended family. The collection mainly consists of John D. Harbron's correspondence, newspaper articles, and his personal, professional, and academic research and writings about Cuba and Latin America. The files also include essays and speeches by Harbron, as well as correspondence with editors and dignitaries, both national and international. The fonds also includes a large number of articles written by John D. Harbron for Canadian and international publications. The files belonging to Sheila Harbron contain personal records as well as genealogical research files, which include records and photographs tracing the Buck, Harbron, Hardy, Lester, Matheson, and Ryerson families.

Additionally, John D. Harbron's Cuban and Latin American book and pamphlet collection has been added to the Special Collections.
