Scope and content

File consists of research papers, speeches and reports that examine Jane-Finch through the lens of community planning. It includes two copies of excerpts from "How Energy is Creating Change from Within," a 1982 presentation by Professor Elspeth Heyworth, the 1984 research paper "Community Spirit of the Jane/Finch Corridor" by York University Student Beth Bow, "A Paper on Community Organization and Planning" by Peggy Birnberg and Peggy Edwards, who presented it at the Community Planning Conference in 1988, and an excerpt of "United Nations of Jane-Finch," a 1993 research paper by resident and York University student Richard De Gaetano. It also includes a 1980 proposal from the Jane/Finch Community and Family Centre to conduct prevention planning assessments to determine the services needed within the rapidly growing community. Jane/Finch Community and Family Centre President Helen Ede's 1978 workshop presentation notes for "Neighbourhood Planning - Social Evolution of the Jane Finch Area" are also included.
