Levy, Eleazar, (c.1716-1811) Canada's first Jewish Notary Public, was in Quebec by 1760. In 1764 his goods were taken by officers of the British Army during military government and after eleven years of unsucessful lawsuits he went to the Unitied States. He bought land in New York which was later expropriated for the establishment of West Point. |

His son Myer, a fur trader in the "upper country," married Frances, the sister of David, Samuel and Moses David.
